I’ve been thinking about writing a blog for a while now. I started one a while ago for the
deals I find on the internet (you can visit that blog at Bargain Dealio). I am very active on my
Facebook and Twitter page. But I realized it was time I start blogging about the things that
matter most to me.
I work for Christ Church Kirkland as their Marketing Director and it’s a job I love. Since
stepping into that role, my passions for social media and communications have skyrocketed
as my understanding of how vast and diverse churches are.
My journey to become the Marketing Director was anything but easy. One may think that being the pastor’s kid means I got a job waiting for me whenever I want it, but it’s not necessarily that easy. I’ve worked as a landscaper, a painter, a vinyl sign maker, an assistant to a general contractor, an accounts manager for a social network, and an on-site engineer.
By the time you read this, I will be finishing or completed my senior year at the University of Washington with a degree in Business Marketing and a Certificate in Sales. With that education, I knew I wanted to go into marketing/sales, but I did not know where. I turned down a few lucrative sales positions the summer of my junior year as I did not feel they fit what I wanted to do in life. I needed a few extra credits during that summer , so I started what I thought was going to be a 4-6 week internship at the church in helping create a marketing department.
This 4-6 week internship slowly turned into a 4 month internship. It seemed long, but I really enjoyed what I was doing there and wanted to keep at it. Eventually I was offered a full time position, and now the role has been firmly established.
So, this blog is dedicated to these sorts of passions: social media, marketing, empowering the church, bargain shopping, multimedia, and any viral videos I find that I gotta share!
